Olympus released two new digital voice recorders in June 2009 that have great features and a super low price. In the past, if you wanted a 1GB voice recorder you would have to pay at least $80, but the newest VN-6000 Olympus Digital Voice Recorder lists for just $39.99 and the VN-6200 PC which records WMA files and transfers files with a USB cable is only $59.99.
“Olympus is continuously improving our voice recorders to make them even more functional,” said Amy Leslie, product manager, Olympus Imaging America Inc. “Whether you’re a student or a professional on the go, the VN-6000 and VN-6200 PC offer superior sound quality with double the capacity of previous models.”
You can get 604 and 444 hours of recording time respectively and record in various recording qualities. HQ mode or the SP and LP modes for extended recording. Playback can be sped up or slowed down. Voice recognition also comes standard, so it will only record when someone is speaking. You can also set a preset recording level so it won’t trigger to record when there is ambient noise or whispering.
You can also index your files with markers. The Olympus VN-6200 PC can hold up to 16 Index Marks per file, while the Olympus VN-6000 can hold 10 per file. This means you can mark important sections of a long recording so you can immediately skip to those parts for reference purposes.
