Olympus WS series Digital Voice Recorders
The WS-Series of Olympus Digital Voice Recorders are consumer models, but that does not mean they are cheap or unreliable. Quite the contrary. I personally own a WS-series and have talked about it many times as a songwriter and recommended it to others as well. All of the WS-300 series digital voice recorders have voice activation, so it will only record when people are speaking. This can save battery life as well as increase the amount of recording you can fit on one device.
All Olympus digital voice recorders let you save your files to a computer. By allowing you to do that you have the capabilities of emailing them to associates, uploading them to a website, transcribing them, labeling them and filing them on your hard drive and any number of additional uses.
One of my favorite aspects of the WS-series digital voice recorders by Olympus is the simple USB connection. There are no cables needed to connect. The USB jack is built into the device so you do not have to worry about losing a cable. It is also recognized by both Mac and PC as a mass storage device (i.e. another hard drive) so you can just drag and drop files from the device very easily. There is no software to install either. Just plug it in and your computer will identify it.
Brand new, you should expect to pay anywhere from $70 - $150 for a WS-series Olympus Digital Voice Recorder. But using our store below, you can often get them for half that - even models that have been unopened or barely used.
Happy shopping!
